Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), a premier Public Sector Bank, has released an official recruitment advertisement (Advt. No. HRDD/RECT/02/2026-27) for the recruitment of 250 Local Bank Officers (LBO) in Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I). Eligible candidates interested in pursuing an officer career in banking can submit their applications online starting from 08 August 2026 until 24 August 2026 through the official portal.
This recruitment drive targets four specific states: Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. Selected officers will be posted in their chosen state and must serve in the same state for the first 12 years of service or until promotion to SMGS-IV Grade, whichever occurs earlier. Candidates are strictly instructed to apply for one state only.
Eligibility & Selection Criteria
To apply for the IOB Local Bank Officer position, candidates must meet the specified educational, age, and language criteria as of 01 August 2026:
- Educational Qualification: A Degree (Graduation) in any discipline from a University recognized by the Government of India or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government. Candidates must possess a valid degree certificate/marksheet at the time of online application.
- Age Limit: Candidates must be between 20 and 30 years of age (born between 02.08.1996 and 01.08.2006, inclusive). Upper age relaxations apply for SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), and PwBD (10 years) as per Government of India guidelines.
- Local Language Proficiency: Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the official local language of the applied state is mandatory. Candidates who have not studied the specified local language in 10th or 12th grade must clear a Local Language Proficiency Test (LPT) before the interview.
- Selection Stages: Selection will be conducted through an Online Objective Examination followed by a Language Proficiency Test (LPT) (where applicable) and a Personal Interview. Negative marking of 0.25 marks per wrong answer applies in the online test.

- Click on the online application link for recruitment of Local Bank Officers 2026-27 to open the registration page.
- Complete basic registration by entering your full name, email address, and active mobile number to generate a provisional Registration Number and Password.
- Log in with your credentials and carefully fill in personal details, educational qualifications, category, and state choice.
- Upload scanned copies of required documents including candidate photo, signature, left thumb impression, and handwritten declaration as per prescribed guidelines.
- Pay the required application fee using net banking, debit card, or credit card and submit the application form. Keep a printed copy of the final application receipt for future reference.
Important Instructions & Advice
Applicants must carefully read the official notification before applying. Multiple applications submitted for different states or the same state will result in the rejection of previous applications, leaving only the last submitted form valid. Ensure that all supporting certificates regarding educational qualification, category status, and age relaxation are available in original during document verification and personal interview. Candidates serving in Scheduled Commercial Banks may also be eligible for advance increments subject to bank regulations upon verification of service criteria.
