Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), a premier public sector bank with its Central Office in Chennai, has officially published recruitment notification Advt. No. HRMD/SS/RECT/01/2026-27 for filling 25 vacancies for the post of Security Guard in Subordinate Staff Cadre. This recruitment drive is exclusively open for eligible Ex-Servicemen and Ex-Agniveers across Tamil Nadu. Candidates who have passed 10th standard and possess exemplary conduct in defence service can apply online between 25 August 2026 and 14 September 2026.
Eligibility & Selection Criteria
To apply for the IOB Security Guard post, applicants must meet the following mandatory eligibility criteria and selection guidelines:
- Educational Qualification: Must have passed 10th Standard (Matriculation) or equivalent from a recognized board. Note: Candidates who have completed Graduation are explicitly ineligible to apply.
- Defence Background: Only Ex-Servicemen or Ex-Agniveers discharged from Army, Navy, or Air Force with an 'EXEMPLARY' character rating and SHAPE-1/AYE medical fitness standard are eligible.
- Language Proficiency: Candidates must be able to fluently speak, read, and write in the local language (Tamil).
- Selection Stages: Selection will be conducted in multiple phases including an Online Objective Test (80 Marks), Local Language Test in Tamil (20 Marks), Physical Fitness Test (100 Marks held at Chennai), followed by Document Verification and Pre-Joining Medical Examination.

- Click on the link titled Recruitment of Security Guards (Advt. No. HRMD/SS/RECT/01/2026-27) and open the Online Application Form page.
- Complete the basic registration by entering your personal contact details, mobile number, and email address to generate login credentials.
- Fill in detailed information including matriculation details, defence service background, medical classification, and Tamil language proficiency.
- Upload required scanned documents, including passport photo, live photo capture, signature in black ink, left thumb impression, and hand-written declaration.
- Review all entered information carefully and submit the application form. Keep a printed copy of the final application confirmation for future physical tests.
Important Instructions & Advice
Applicants are advised to ensure all submitted details strictly match their official service discharge book and educational certificates. Since there is no application fee for any candidate, ensure all uploads are crisp and meet the file size requirements. Candidates qualifying the written assessment will be called to the Central Office in Chennai for the Physical Fitness Test. Probation for selected candidates will last for a period of six months from the date of appointment.
