Indian Overseas Bank (IOB), a premier Public Sector Bank headquartered in Chennai, has released an official recruitment notification (Advt. No. HRMD/SS/RECT/01/2026-27) inviting online applications for the post of Security Guard. This recruitment drive aims to fill 25 vacancies reserved strictly for Ex-Servicemen and Ex-Agniveers. Selected candidates will be assigned to Subordinate Staff Cadre under the 12th Bipartite Settlement scale with initially identified postings in Chennai, transferable anywhere across Tamil Nadu based on bank requirements.

Eligibility & Selection Criteria
To qualify for the IOB Security Guard post, candidates must satisfy strict educational, age, and military service criteria:
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 10th standard (Matriculation) or equivalent examination. However, candidates holding a Graduation degree or higher are NOT eligible. Candidates must also be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking the local language (Tamil). Ex-Servicemen lacking 10th standard civil qualifications but possessing an Army Special Certificate of Education with at least 15 years of defence service are also eligible.
- Military Character: Discharge status from the Armed Forces must be categorized as EXEMPLARY. Disabled Ex-Servicemen are excluded from this recruitment.
- Age Limit: Base age criteria is between 18 and 26 years as of August 1, 2026. Ex-Servicemen candidates receive age relaxation equivalent to their actual defence service plus 3 years, up to a maximum upper age limit of 45 years.
- Selection Procedure: The selection comprises three sequential stages: An Objective Online Test (80 Marks), a Local Language Test in Tamil (20 Marks), and a mandatory Physical Fitness Test (100 Marks). Note that marks from the physical test (covering push-ups, sit-ups, 1 KM run, and drill) will be added to compile the final merit list.

Eligible candidates can submit their applications online by following the steps outlined below:

- Click on the notification link for Recruitment of Security Guards and choose the Apply Online option.
- Select 'Click here to Register Online' and register by providing basic contact details to generate a Registration Number and Password.
- Upload scanned copies of required documents including candidate photograph, signature, left thumb impression, and handwritten declaration as per prescribed dimensions.
- Capture a live photo using the website's camera portal as instructed.
- Carefully review all details filled in the application form and click on COMPLETE REGISTRATION to finalize submission.
- Download and print a copy of the completed system-generated application form for record verification.
Important Instructions & Advice
Candidates are advised to verify all documents before applying. Original documents including the Discharge Book, Ex-Servicemen ID Card, Educational Certificates, Local Language Proof, and Category/EWS certificates must be produced during the Physical Fitness Test. A valid Medical Fitness Certificate issued within 15 days of the physical test date is mandatory. Applicants currently employed in government or public sector undertakings must present a valid No Objection Certificate (NOC). Ensure all information entered in the online portal is accurate, as fake or fabricated claims will lead to immediate disqualification.
